  • Vray Sky and Jagged Edges

    Hello,

Hopefully my searching skills aren't that weak that I couldn't find the answer but here's what's happening:

    Base Info:

    Max 2010, Vray 1.5sp4

I am rendering images in 32bit .exr format to get the dynamic range. When I use vray sky as the background, some of my objects, more noticeably trees, have jagged edges and of course the alpha is also jagged. My question is if there's something I'm missing, or is it kind of the nature of the beast of working in hdr.

    Thanks!

Part of rendering images with a really high dynamic range - the difference in value between the sky and object are too big, and the aa settings need to be up stupidly high to deal with them.

You can turn on clamp output to fix this, but then you're not in full float. You can clamp to a higher value though, play with your aa settings a bit on a region until it goes.

      should it be even higher?

          I'm not using a filter
(also tried with quadratic - same result)
          Kind Regards,
