  • DR doesn't render at 100%

    Hi there,

I have some issues with DR. Since I have changed to max 2011, my DR doesn't render at 100%
The quad cores render at 50% and the octo cores render at 25%.
I thought it was a scene limitation for what ever reason (too much ram used, etc), but it's now few projects where I have that issues and I couldn't understand what I'm doing wrong.
When I was on 2008 I had no problem. And I didn't change my workflow.

    Is this something common?
    Any idea ?

    Thanks

no one has any ideas ?
I'm struggling with my renders right now,
RT does use 100% of the cpu, so I'm quicker to render with RT but I would like to render normal images also.
Or I will be obliged to return to max2008 :-/

      Ok found it !
      It was the bitmap paging!

the option was not in the preference window but in the asset tracking!
Really don't understand why they are still using this option at Autodesk.
May be could vray set a global parameter in the global switcher rollout that is by default not ticked!

      Thanks

I just checked this option and we have it off. We never used it so I guess off is the default value.

Some 3dsmax settings carry on from one session to another so if you had it enabled in the past it might have carried into your current scene...

Since 3ds Max 2010, the bitmap pager is enabled by default.

I'm not saying it's not useful But in some cases it can lead to reduced CPU usage and slower rendering.
