  • Missing textures in raw format

I'm running Vray SP5 & viz 2008 on a stand alone machine-it's been like this for the past two years but my boss won't let me upgrade-doh! Anyway, I've got 3GB of memory and for no apparent reason I'm getting missing textures in my rendered scene when using the vray raw file format. If I render through the vray buffer or the default Viz buffer everything is fine. They aren't missing at the beginning of the render as I get no missing textures message. Also, occasionally, I render to the vray buffer but when complete I find it impossible to save the file-'Cannot create Bitmap' is the error message I get.

Is all of this memory related......?

Can you post an image of the missing textures issue?

For the "Cannot create bitmap" message, it will happen if you render a large resolution image with the 32-bit version of 3ds Max.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

      Missing maps in RAW file

      Vlado

Apologies for the delay in replying. Here is what happens when I render to the raw image file. You will notice some of the maps are missing while others have been rendered....?

        Vlado,

Unless you have come up with something, I believe it is down to the old 'not enough memory' story. I've just set 3ds viz' priority to 'high' and it's rendered fine! As for the error message....Sometimes it renders and I get to save the file and some times I can't-I'm thinking this is memory related too.

        Thanks anyway.
