Enabling Render Elements causes self illumination?

I've got an odd issue. The only difference between the two attached renders is that render elements is enabled. Turning them on seems to make certain objects seem self illuminated. I've been unable to reproduce in other files. Just this one. Any known reason for this?

Turn on your Vray Frame buffer and elements and see if that works.

Those are from the VFB. I double checked to see if it was a specific element causing the problem and nope. As long as there is an active render element of any kind it ends up bright. I can have render elements checked...as long as nothing is in the list.
