  • DR spawner does not work with 3ds Max 2009 and 3ds Max 2010 hotfixes

    Hello,

There is a problem with the V-Ray spawner when installing the 3ds Max 2009 Hotfix from 6/7/2010 and the 3ds Max 2010 Hotfix from 6/8/2010. To fix these issues, please replace the vraydummy2009.xml and vraydummy2010.xml respectively in the root folder of 3ds Max with the attached versions.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

        Dear Vlado,

this solved our problems too. But now we can't render any Proxys through the spawner. We use SP5 and max 2009 64 bit. Do you have a solution?

        Thanks a lot

Are you running the spawner as a service? Are the proxies loaded from a network location?

            Best regards,

As a temporary solution, try copying the proxies locally to the machines and/or running the spawner manually from a user that is logged on to the render slave (you may need to stop the spawner that is already running as a service first).

Is this fixed? We've just moved our workstations to Win7 x64 so have reinstalled everything. Max has been installed with latest hotfix. Max is version 2009 x64, Vray is version 1.50.SP4a. All render nodes are XP64 (no hotfix applied to Nodes yet)
                      Kind Regards,

I had a problem with render nodes not having the Max Hotfix. DR jobs were going, but Backburner was not starting.... Hotfix on the nodes fixed that.. so mabee you should install the hotfix everywhere to avoid future problems.

So did you need to upgrade the vraydummy file on each machine as well?

I seem to be having major problems with DR at the moment. My nodes are very very unstable. Been fine up until hotfix '3dsmax2009_64-bit_2010.06.07.msp' has been installed. I've also run the latest vray installation on all machines, and then replaced 'vraydummy2009.xml' with the file supplied by Vlado at the beginning of this thread.

What's going on. This is quite catastrophic. I don't know weather its the hotfix or SP5 of Vray. I don't even know if it is possible to uninstall the hotfix.
                            Kind Regards,

What do you mean by "unstable"?
