FYI: I just installed the hotfix along with the new spawner on all of my render nodes. DR was working fine but the installation of either the hotfix of the new spawner (probably the former) seems to have broke my groundwiz render node plugin as anything that used groundwiz, even just the variation texture, would not render in DR (that node would fail). A reinstall of groundwiz render node on each render slave seems to have fixed it.

Would it confuse vray if I had 2 spawners open..one for max 2010 and one for max 2011 ? Im not to fond of max 2011 at the moment and so mostly keep to max 2010 for my projects.
Update: If I stop the vray max 2010 spawner the max 2011 spawner seems fine. Can I not have both running at the same time ?

Can you please help me with one thing? We just got 9 new workstations (Win7 64bit + Max 2011 + Vray 1.5 sp5) that I am using as render nodes, we also have 2 older render nodes (WinXP 64bit + Max 2011 + Vray 1.5 sp5). My local workstation is one of the new computers. I've been trying to get the DR working and I am unable to get the Spawner to launch on the Win7 computers, but it works perfectly on the older nodes. I went into the firewall settings and allowed vrayspawner2011.exe from the 3dsMax root folder on all the computers, but still no progress. I have read that there is an updated xml file for the 2009/2010 spawners. Is there an update for 2011 as well? I would really appreciate your help.
- Also, all of the machines work perfectly when rendering individual images through Backburner, it's just the DR that is not working at all on the new computers.
Thanks,
Andrew

Steve, if you want to manage your spawners quite easy register them as a service (properly!!! - user account with the proper access-rights and starting-behavior set to manually) an start and stop these services remotely with "psservice" via *.bat-file (see attachment). Works very fine for me (WinXP Pro 32-bit).

I have just upgraded to Max 2011 64bit (from 2009 64bit) and also having alot of issues with this and also read alot of threads here.
Have finally sorted it out.
My issue was: DR not working through Backburner , ie. worked fine with max open and connected to all the DR nodes but as soon as I sent it through backburner - it didn't connect to any other nodes.
PROBLEM:
I still had Max 2009 64 bit installed on the main DR machine - I noticed that when I started Backburner it loaded both Max 2009 and 2011 plugins which is what was causing problems.
FIX:
Renamed "max_server32.task" in the "3ds Max 2009\network" folder to something else - (to stop Backburner loading the 2009 plugin) - so now backburner just loads max 2011.
All working now!
At some stage I will uninstall 2009, but for the time being this worked.
Hope this helps someone.
