  • Shadow casting w/o visible to camera method???? Not visible to camera is not good.

I am having this problem also. Basically, I make my trees not visible to camera because I only want them to cast a shadow on the ground. In order to get rid of them all I need to crank my transparency levels up to 300-350.

I am wondering if there is a way to simply a way to have an object cast a shadow by using a certain material, or certain setting. Something that does not need its invisibleness computed by having high levels of transparency.

Maybe all you need to do is right click, vray properties, uncheck generate and receive GI. I don't quite understand what "high levels of transparency" means though. Either way, the reason you are getting those black splotches is because it's part of the GI solution. Fixable as posted in the first sentence.
