  • Missing V-Ray Camera, Fur, Plane, Sun, IES

    Hi,

After a clean install of MAx 2009 and V-Ray 1.5 SP5, I am missing the V-Ray Camera, Fur, Plane, Sun, and IES. I might be missing other items, but not sure at the moment. Any idea why?

    Thanks,
    Jason Jacobs

Check out the plugin.ini file in the 3ds Max root folder and make sure that the "Additional V-Ray plugins" folder is listed after the main one.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

Thank you, Vlado. Here is the text:

      [Directories]
      Turbo Squid Tentacles=plugins\tentacles
      ;=;
      V-Ray main plug-ins=C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2009\plugins
      V-Ray additional plug-ins=C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2009\plugins\vrayplugins

Removed the ;=; but there is no change.

Just for the record, I DO have vray proxy and vray light as well as the vray material and light material.

Ok then, are the additional plugins really in that folder (...\plugins\vrayplugins)? Also check for other plugin.ini files (there might also be one in the local user settings folder, you will have to search for it a bit).

            Best regards,
            Vlado

Thanks for all the help, Vlado. The problem is solved!

There was another plugin.ini file in the following location: "C:\Users\jasonjacobs\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\P rogram Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2009"

It was missing the following text (which I added):

              V-Ray main plug-ins=C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2009\plugins
              V-Ray additional plug-ins=C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2009\plugins\vrayplugins

After adding the text to that ini file, everything is as it should be.

Thank you for the help and direction.
