Thanks, am trying that now and it's working.

Unloading geometry and Multiscatter

We are starting to stretch ourselves with 3d grass these days (in certain projects at least). We too are having 'unloading geometry' slowdown issues with certain views, but we are using PorestPro to scatter the grass.
Our 'default' GI method is LC/IMap, and usually, this is fine, but as I understand it, the LC part is calculated on each and every machine (for the entire scene) in our farm before IMap can begin. Our workstations and farm machines are quite modest by todays standards: the workstations have 8GB ram and the slaves have only 4GB (yes, I know!). We set the memory limit in Vray to around 2500 - 3000MB to try and help things, but with large areas of grass, this can still result in lots of 'geometry unloading'.
In this situation, am I correct in thinking that moving to BF/IMap would be a better solution, that way each machine calculates its own 'bucket' immediately, loading in only the geometry for that bucket?
Also, for sunlit, exterior scenes, the default values for the BF are presumably going to be high enough?Kind Regards,
Richard Birket
