  • Weird holes in geometry

    Hi,
I'm having a strange problem with rendering part of an interior up close.
I'm getting weird holes in the alpha of my geometry and unsightly bumps and artifacting. I've tried loads of things.
Its something to do with Geometry, not shading or lighting. I'm wondering if it could be a scale issue.
Maybe someone has had the same problem.
Please help. I've posted an image below to try and illustrate the problem.
    I'll keep trying.
    Thanks,
    Gavin

What is the size of your object, in system units? Have you checked for any overlapping faces?

    Best regards,
    Vlado

      Hi Vlado,
The geometry is perfect, no overlapping faces. I've collapsed it, reset xform added a mesh select modifier, added a shell modifier, smoothing groups. I've checked everything I can think of. I think it may have something to with being so zoomed in.
The file in cm, both unit scale and display units.
The object in the image is roughly 4 or 5 cm. Its real-world scale.
This is basically the end point of a camera that zooms from outside the car to the dash/console of the interior.
      Thanks for any help.

I figured it out. The interior was too far from the centre of the world. Now it renders fine. Strange.
