  • VrayBlendMtl bug

    Hi,
I have a multi-sub material. If I click on one of materials, and make it a vrayblendmtl, and use "keep old material as sub-material" I loose "go to parent" icon to go to other multi-sub materials. I can retrieve it if the material is already in the scene and I pick it up with an eyedropper tool.

Can you tell me which 3ds Max version are you using? I remember there was a similar issue, which was fixed in newer 3ds Max versions.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

Yes, I had this same issue. It doesnt happen now in 3dsmax 2010 or 2011.

still happens in 2010 for me.. 2011 is fixed, though. to reproduce:

          1. create a multi\sub object material in the material editor
          2. drill down to any sub-material
          3. click the material button to the right of the material name (this is a "Standard" material by default)
          4. select a VrayBlendMtl from the material\map browser
          5. choose "Keep old material as sub-material"
result: entire material tree is overwritten with the new vrayblendMtl and "Go To Parent" is grayed out

doing this with a standard blend material works correctly and you can still go up the material tree to the original multi-sub material.

i assume this is a max bug since it's fixed in 2011, but to confirm: is this a max-only issue or does it involve vray?

Have you applied all the max updates...not sure if they would fix. I'll try and re-create the error now.
