  • backburner, render with VFB fails

I have a problem with our workstations here. they only render and save the image with max frame buffer enabled. when I try it with VFB enabled then the rendering won't start and backburner (max) crashes with an error.
I have noticed that it works with VFB when I send a new scene over BB but it doesn't work with scenes I have made e.g a year ago (the problem is new and were not present before some months). what's funny all my renderslaves (Q6600) render without any errors wih both frame buffers. my idea is it has something to do with the graphic card driver (nvidia) because the renderslaves haven't graphic cards installed. but I don't know why it should...

    any ideas or suggestions?

    I am on win 7 64bit, 3ds max 2010 (all HF and SP) and Vray 1.5 SP5

Did you have the V-Ray VFB history enabled when you saved the scenes?

no, I do not work with VFB history at all. but what would be wrong if I had enabled it before?

Ah, in that case, never mind Is the 3ds Max running as a service on the workstations? What about the render slaves?

I always start the server locally from the server.exe, no services at all.
I also had problems with the spawner that fails and max was always crashing, but with the new .xml from another thread it's fixed and running.

Ok then. Can you get me one of those crashing scenes to vlado@chaosgroup.com so that I can check it out?

            Best regards,
            Vlado
