  • Displacement and LC

    Hello,

I'm working on interiors rendering and needed to make a carpet using vRay-Displacement modifier. Then I noticed the LC computation time exploded as long as the vRay-Displacement was on (same goes for displacement through material / default displacement settings). Unchecking Generate GI in the vRay Properties of the carpet object doesn't seem to help ... I'm a bit lost, any help would be greatly appreciated

    Many thanks in advance,

    Regards.

As long as the displacement on the carpet is minor, you should be fine leaving it off during the LC calculations.

      Hello,

Thanks for your answer. However, I don't think it's an efficient approach, not only for multiple stills (using a batch render utility) but for animations too. I may try a different approach, using the displacement in the material, and setting a material without displacement for GI with Override material ... worth trying

      Cheers.

This attempt seems to work better in fact ... but still, something to improve LC rendering when using Displacement mod (or even vRay-Fur, which I have the same problem with) would be highly welcome.
