  • Vray 2.0 license on Windows 7

    Hi!

Can you help me please to let Vray 2.0 license work under windows 7?

These are the step I've made:

-A new fresh format system with Windows 7 32bit updated
    -I've installed Vray 2.0 (for 3dsmax 2011 32bit)
-From the same .exe the WIBU Key drivers are installed
-Once finished I've put the dongle on and on the taskbar a message says to me it's all right and recognized the dongle
-I've run "V-Ray license Server" (as Administrator)
    -Finally I've run 3dsmax

Once opened the Render Settings this error message appears:
"Could not obtain a license (-200)"

What's wrong? What am I missing?

    Thank you very much.

Did you update your dongle with a 2.0 license? If you open the license server web page, do you see the V-Ray 2.0 license there? If not, please email us to vray@chaosgroup.com to fix this.

      Best regards,

Yes.. I've update the my dongle to the last Vray 2.0 version (and I've installed the Vray 2.0 for 3ds max 2011 version too...)

In the following link I've saved the webpage of the address http://127.0.0.1:30304/

        Thank you for your support

No I'm not using a beta building, I've downloaded the official from your website few days ago.

This is the file I've installed: "vray_adv_20002_max2011_x86"

Question: an usb dongle is machine dependent? I can use it on a computer but not on another? 'cause I'm working on a Windows XP sp2 64bit system with my usb dongle and Vray 2.0 and all wokrs correctly. Now I'd like to try Vray 2.0 on a Windows 7 32bit system because on this last machine I've a GeForce GTX card and I want to test the RT GPU with the best hardware I have.

No, the dongle is not locked to a particular machine. Are you sure you are running the license server from the latest V-Ray? Check which license server you are using from Start menu > Programs > Chaos Group > V-Ray for 3ds Max > Licensing > Administration > Change V-Ray client license settings. Then open a web browser and type http://servername:30304 where servername is the same server name (or IP) as in the license settings dialog. Do you see a V-Ray 2.0 license in the license server status page?

              Best regards,
              Vlado

nobody else had "problems" on windows 7? Some option to deal with...

I don't think it's related to Windows 7 specifically. Can you email me to vlado@chaosgroup.com, I'll get you a slightly modified build that gives some more information about such problems.

                  Best regards,
                  Vlado
