  • DR spawner server not visible - compatibility issues 32 vs 64 bit?

    Hello,
I face a problem regarding DR.
I'm unable to add a server to vray DR or max backburner either.

As the problem occur with both method I believe there is something wrong beetween win7 and xp.
However, the backburner manager clearly indicated : succeffull registration of the win7 computer!
Regarding Vray DR, I've no idea as I can't find the log on my computer.

One OS is Win 7 pro 64 bit the 2 other are XP pro SP3 32bit. Both are under 3dsmax 2011.
Maybe a 64bit OS cannot make DR with 32 bit OS!

I've tried to start the rendering from both side, from the 64 bit OS and from the 32 bit OS without sucess.

What can I do to solve this problem?
    thanks

finally, we instaleld the same 64 Win 7 os on the two workstation.
Backburner is working fine with MR or scanline render and with Vray but Vray DR is not working.
the bucket indicated only the name of the first workstation, the second workstation is not involve even if only the second one is included as a server.

    So what can we do?

You can do Distributed Rendering between 32-bit and 64-bit machines, this is not the case with Backburner however. With Backburner you can send either a 64-bit job or a 32-bit one, that is why you had problems.
Please send us back the vraylog.txt file from the main machine one of the render nodes. This file is located in the Temp folder by default. If you open the Render Setup and go to the Settings tab you will see the VRay log section and where you should look for the file.

I tried again with vray DR, please remember than 2 workstation are on OS win 7 64 bit, one is on XP pro 32 bit. I assigned the render to the slave with win7 64bit (192.168.0.11). The spawner is started on the slave machine, but only the master is used to render the file! The network is working fine as some hard drive and forlder are synchronized beetween the 3 machines. I can also ping 192.168.0.12 with success. I can resolve the slave ip by host name and by host IP.
I switch off the win7 firewall as well.
i tried by IP host and then by name host and then both of them at the same time. Same result, no the slave doesn't render.
here is an extract from the log (the full log can't fit here):

Are there any messages in the V-Ray log file on the render slaves?

please remenber that when render thought backburner, then the slave will render, no license problem!
I do add ip adress instead of the host name in the license server, it doesn't help!
