  • pgrade to 2.0 and license problems

After upgtrading to V-Ray 2 the license is constantly getting "lost." If a few hours goes by, I will have to unplug and replug the dongle, restart the lic server, to get V-Ray to see the license. This is really getting annoying and sometime almost causes max to crash. Anyone know what might be going on? I have Vista Ultimate x64 and V-Ray 2.00.2 and Max 2011 64 bit. During the update, also updated the Dongle drivers, etc. This used to happen back on max 9 and V-Ray 1.5 but only rarely like once a month. Now it's doing it almost everyday, often a few time each day.

    Thanks in advance

Okay, well, it still happens, any suggestions from Chaosgroup would be nice...
It's the only problem I have with the dongle system. Otherwise, it's a great way to license, but not if it just needs to be messed with so often and unexpectedly.
It's one license on one dongle on one computer...

    Maybe thanks...

This used to happen to me all the time on vray1.5 (like you mentioned), I found updating the WIBU drivers did it for me - haven't had a problem since. Although I may have moved to Win7 64 too at around the same time. I think it has to be the drivers (somehow) but I know you said you've updated them.

If it worked better with V-Ray 1.5, then you can try to install the WIBU drivers that come with it - make sure you first remove the old drivers. If you still have issues, please email us to vray@chaosgroup.com and our support guys will try to help.

I had the same problem with 1.5, but at some point/build, it got much better or totally fixed.
I will try the latest 1.5 build's WIBU drivers...

We have also had this happen if the dongle is somehow defective; so if your issues continue, we may have to replace it.

              Best regards,

I have purchased a new Dongle and hopefully that will solve this problem. If not, I'm out $10 shipping and still have a mystery :- l
