Hey guys, I'm checked the forums for answers before posting, but all of them seem to have slightly variants in problems / system specs. So I thought I'd give it a shot.
Basically my work station is hooked up to a Server, all my working files are on that.
The other two Work stations both running windows 64BIT XP, (Including mine).
Distributing works IF I copy all the files textures and related scenes to the "MAP" folder on each of the slaves hard drive, I believe it's C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2011\maps.
If I don't do this - and were planning to add a further 5 more rendering nodes soon, it would mean I would have to update each C drive individually each time I want to do a distributed render (with a texture change etc). (I'm sure everyone agrees that would be silly!?)
just to add more questions, if I was to open the file up on a render machine and render it, the texture maps work fine, so it's not like it's having problems finding the Server where the textures are located.
I've checked the "missing maps" option, this throws up some missing textures, but funnily enough there not the one's that are missing.
I've also done the following that someone else recommended. (Control Panel > Admin Tools > Services) Then go to "VraySpawner 2011" -
I then go to the "Log on" Tab, and change it from Local System account to my Log on info in the company, changing the destination as well from local to this company's location (opposed to the linked office somewhere else).
IF anyone can shed some light on this it would be fantastic, I love working with Vray, and the latest release is AWESOME, if I had a computer with a million cores I wouldn't need this but unfortunately (andi'm sure most people would agree) it's very necessary!
