  • Light cache super slow with VrayProxy: normal or problem ?

I have used proxies quite a bit and not had any major slowdown on light cache, but working in a current project it's getting punishingly slow, even at low values (500 sd etc.) We're talking 25 minutes and then I bailed on it, and this is only at 2500X1200pix.

These are quite high poly meshes - the total of all 12 proxies is probably in the tens of millions - but the shapes are quite simple (basically tree-branches/vines, but no leaves).

I'm not sure if I should expect such a slowdown simply based on the poly count, or if it likely indicates something else is wrong in the scene?

Thank in advance for any advice on it.

Sounds normal-ish for LC. Try BF instead. I know it produces somewhat different results, but that's the only way I can render heavy exterior scenes - and I have 24gb!
