  • DR on 3dsmax 2009 and 3dsmax 2011 contemporaneously

I've been running v-ray spawner service on a small render farm (max 2009 64bit) for a while now. Everything working flawlessly.
As for recent I've been given a project done in max 2011. Since I feel comfortable with max 2009 I've decided to upgrade the farm to max 2011 leaving the 2009 version. Backburner works fine, and max 2009 DR render works fine as well, but I have a problem with max 2011 DR. I've installed both v-ray spawner services and made custom batch files to start/stop the services across the network as needed.
Yesterday I managed to make it work without problems, but today (after servers restarted) the "no connection" problem emerged again (under max 2011).

I suppose I did something wrong, or perhaps this combination is just not possible.

Do I need to have both v-ray for max 2009 and max 2011 installed to make the DR work properly?

    Vlado?

Just been reading the other similar post with the max hot fixes. Vlado said that you can keep running only the 2011 version and it should work fine. I've tried that, but now the DR isn't working on both max 2009 and max 2011.

I solved the issue. Since I slipstreamed the 3dsmax installation, it assigned the wrong MAC adresses to the render slaves. And since all the slaves had the previous version of BB installed, the mess was even worse. I had to manually correct all the backburner .xml files on the individual machines. So far of the automated software installation...
