  • Obvious difference between VFB and saved image

I have this issue for some time now.
Everytime i save an image, no matter what the format or bit depth, it is alot different than
the render itself as seen in the VFB. I don't use gamma 2.2 workflow.
I don't use any of the built-in post-prod tools of the VFB.
Some of my coleagues experience the same problem, some-not
but i cant think of a logical explanation. The platforms are the same:
    Max2011 x64, V-ray 1.5 SP5 on Windows 7 home premium 64bit.

I am not saying the problem is related to the VFB specifically or to V-ray at all for that matter, because the problem exists when use the max built-in buffer as well.
It's just that it's very frustrating and if someone stumbled upon such an issue I would really appreciate the help.

    Thanks

    Best regards,

can you do a screengrab of the vfb to show the difference, or at least describe it? would help to diagnose....

Ok. The problem seems to be with my windows and its color profiles.
These 3 images are consecutive screengrabs. The first is a grab from max itself and the saved image next to the VFB. The difference is obvious. Stangeley enough the screengrab
itself is darker and more desaturated that what i see on my screen in max. To illustrate further i made the next grabs from PS - printscreen and paste in new file. The moment I paste, the image is quite darker and desaturated and so on each time untill its completely messed up. SO it has to be windows issue - something with color profiles and management - i would have to investigate.
Anyway i would still appreciate the help if anyone has an easy solution that would save me the time to go through other forums and help files.

Problem solved! It was some issue with Windows 7 color profiles. I changed several profiles untill i found one that does not show differences in VFB and saved image and neither when screengrabbing.
