Dongle Error 17

If we start our XP-64 workstation without the dongle in place we get an error-17 and we can't boot the machine till we insert the dongle..

Any ideas why this is and how to stop it?

Maybe you could set the vray license service to not start up automatically with windows. Or WIBU-KEY.

Are you running the V-Ray license server as a service or from the Startup folder of the Start menu?

I would have to say it is running a s a service (as it is not in the startup folder), but when I look at the running services all i see is VRLService. Is that it?
Should we be running it from the startup folder? (my guess is you are going to say yes)..
