  • vray 2.0 on 2012 display problems

    Hello Vlado,

on the internal v2 build on max2012, it's impossible to display the map of a vraylightmtl, in the nitrous and directX (hardware shading) viewport. i only get a white plane.
on directX, without hardware shading, it works fine.

i got nvidia quadro fx 3800 with latest drivers.

    thanks

If I am correct, vraylightmtl has not been able to show the map in HW accel mode in 2011 either.

Works fine for me in Nitrous with the official V-Ray 2.10 for 3ds Max 2012; make sure that you have turned on the "Show Realistic Material in Viewport" button for the VRayLightMtl material.

        Hmm...strange

btw, do you mean the "show shaded material in viewport" ? or is there another one ?

Vlado, did you use a vraylightmtl or a normal vraymtl in your scene ?

Nitrious is HW accelerated right ? could that be a problem ?

edit : it appears, but is it soooooo overblown... almost completely white....

        thanks

          I used VRayLightMtl material.

The "Show shaded material in viewport" button is a flyout button that has another option - "Show realistic material in viewport". This works only for Nitrous though.

          Best regards,
          Vlado

also, is v2.00.SP1 the same as the internal build?
            thx

It is listed as 2.00.SP1 on the site, yes (although the version that it shows inside 3ds Max is 2.10.01), sorry for the confusion. It is not the same as the internal build - the official build has some additional features and fixes.

I have another problem. When I changing material display mode, objects with vray material disappear and i have to select it to appear again. Its really annoying and it happens only with objects with vray materials. Dont know what I have to do to solve this, really bad.

Maybe I will make a video to show this problem, what you think Vlado? Really hard to explain this.

Yep, I have noticed this myself; as of yet we have not been able to determine why it happens or how to fix it, but we'll keep looking into it. I think it is enough to just rotate the viewport slightly or otherwise cause it to refresh - there is no need to actually select the object.

                    Best regards,

I pressed F4 twice and it seemed to fix it as well when I had something like this happen to me.

For me rotating the viewport doesnt help. I have to select the object (press ctrl + a is the fastest way). Maybe F4 will work too. But hope You find a sollution.
