Bucket pre-pass Dr, main system not using more than 5% cpu DR machines completed

Strange problem. I have 5 systems. I have the scene setup as irr/bf. The prepass buckets are all carried out quickly by the DR machines, the prepass for the main system just sits there with only 5% cpu power being used ???! Cannot seem to get past the prepass stage because of this.

I was using lightcache previous to this and it wouldn't progress at all.

Also, I can cancel the render and the render dialogue stays on screen..but I can still operate max...very odd

ok, I merged the scene and that didn't do anything...max also started to crash at the preparing lights stage...I decided to un-group everything in the scene and that seems to have resolved the problem. I guess it was some strange max problem.

Yeah, I think the original scene was saved in max 2010 so maybe there was some problem when using max 2011 to update it..
