Render elements not respecting fields

I've done a bunch of renders that require fields, but the render elements don't have fields and they have squashed the passes into the top half of the frame.

Have I done something wrong? or are fields not supported but vray render elements?

Is this through the V-Ray frame buffer, or the 3ds Max one?

Through vray frame buffer.

The V-Ray VFB has never supported fields unfortunately, although this is somewhere on the "to do" list. It might be worth trying the 3ds Max frame buffer.
