  • gi artefacts in animation

    Hello together,
I try to get rid of these artefacts but it doesnt work.
My scene is a 9 Million Poly scene in [cm] units. Only the camera is animated over 1500 frames.
The scene is in a size of 5300cm x 4500cm
I want to render with irradiance map and light cache, because qmc takes too much time.
At first I render irradiance map and light cache at every 5th frame, save the solution and then I test render some images. In the attached image you can see some artefacts in the corner of wall and ceiling.
How can I get rid of these.
    My settings I attache too.
    Thank you very much,
    Stefan

first step would be to render with lightcache/lightcache, and see if the lightcache is clean or giving you the issues. if its not clean, adjust settings until its relatively blotch free.. id go for a larger sample size if i were you, and play around with the pre-filter.

you could also enable -retrace threshold" this can clean up problem areas around corners in the lightcache, but if i understand correctly, youll only see this benefit when using it as secondary with imap as primary.

you could also turn off "store direct lighting"

once your LC is clean, turn primary back to imap, and look at the imap settings.

id go back to a preset of say, medium, and then switch to custom. drop the min rate to say -5, and keep the max rate nice and high.. either -1 or 0. also enable "check sample visibility" you could also play with the interp. samples as this can help clean up any final blotchyness.

parallel to these tests, check your model for double faces!

      Hello super gnu.
Thank you very much for your advice. I will keep on testing.
Light Cache is clean now with a larger sample size.
The problem seems to come with the irradiance map.
I have to make further tests.
