Strange reflection problem

Hello,

i ve ran into a strange reflection issue today.
If you look at the picture attached, youll see that the reflection ont he floor under the horizontal steel table leg goes from dark to light (right/left direction).

Should not the reflection be consistent as it is on the right side??



I am not saying this is a bug ..its just weird....your thoughts??

I'd guess the floor is reflecting a specular highlight/reflection in the metal, which isnt there to the left.

I think cubiclegangster was talking about missing bright (comming from window opening) floor reflection in metal.if it was there your mistery would be solved

I think Neil is right - it's probably a direct reflection that is only visible from that angle. It happens frequently with sharp/specular reflections.

the reflection depth was set to 10
thats why the unusual look of the reflection
i usually dont have it set that high

I think that too. Its reflecting the specular from the table

Bingo - when you look at the leg, you're getting the angle of it reflecting the floor. When you look at the reflected leg, you're seeing a totally different angle of reflection in it - the two won't match.
