  • show map in viewport (vray 1.5 sp6 & max 2012)

Am I doing something wrong or is something not quite working.
In max 2012 I just can't get show material in viewport working for vray materials ...
    standard materials work fine ...

    Is this a limitation for 1.5 with 2012 or am I missing a settings/toggle/button somewhere ?

It will only work in DirectX/OpenGL modes. V-Ray 1.5 does not support the Nitrous viewports; however V-Ray 2.0 does (we had to do quite a lot of work on that too).

    Best regards,
    Vlado

      Good to know.

Think it's about time to convince the big man to upgrade to 2.0 finally

Some confusion about vray 1.5 not supporting Nitrous. As I understand it Nitrous is used to obtain a "close to render look" in the viewport. When you say 1.5 doesn't support Nitrous, at what level? I have Nitrous enabled and I am able to see vray materials in the viewport with 3ds max default lights, vray plane and vray sphere lights. With vray dome and vray sun/sky the materials show up as black in the viewport. any help would be greatly appreciated.
