How do I handle transparency in render elements?

there's an "affect channels" dropdown menu in the refraction settings of the vray mat, you can set it to "all channels" from there.

      Thanks, that was perfect.
They said in another forum that Photoshop sucks for compositing. Nuke is the way to go.
I'm planning to use several render elements in the future, but CS4 is the only tool we have at work.
Do anybody in this forum uses Ps for this task? Or am I trying to achieve the impossible?
I mean, I suspect that with enough tweaking I can get the job done.

if you're working with one of the latest max releases, you can try composite. it's very intuitive to work with, and I guess it might do a better job than PS if you plan to comp a bunch of elements.
you may also want to avoid raw elements, the less operations and layer groups the better with PS, I guess.

Transparency works well in Wire Selection but doesn't in AO (set as extratex+dirt). Does Extratex render element need further tweaking?
