  • VFB and Vray log windows very slow in Max2012

Interaction with the Vray frame buffer and Vray log windows are really slow with my installation of Max2012. Every interaction (closing the winodws, moving the windows, etc) takes about 5 seconds. No other windows have this behavior in Max that I have run across. With an SSD drive for my boot and application drive my system is pretty darn quick except for this. I'm wondering if I should use the previous FirePro driver.

    Max2012 SP1
    Vray 2.10.01
ATI FirePro 7800 (8.83.5.4) - using Nitrous driver.
    Windows 7 64bit
    16GB RAM

Is it ok with the DirectX viewport driver? Does anything change if you turn off the Progressive mode for the viewports?

    Best regards,
    Vlado

Sorry for jumping on this thread - but i have been having similar issues.

      Hopefully it is the same

Max 2012 Design - Vray 2 (latest version)

My problems are when i end a render, the Vray FB takes ages to come to life again, delay of 5-10 secs then all comes good again, try and move it to another part of the screen and the same thing happens.
At first i thought it was a pc issue - but having a Boxx 8550 - Dual Xeon 2.26 with 12 gb i thought this cannot be right. I have been close to calling Boxx and demanding this be fixed.

So now i see someone else has similar problems i am interested to know what the problem is. I am on Nitrous but no realistic shading on - just wireframe.Constantly lags with VFB

Vlado - Have just changed to D3D and all seems back to normal - must be Nitrous causing the delays

Reverting to D3D does fix the VFB/Log issue, but doesn't provide very good viewport performance on my machine. Thankfully disabling progressive refinement fixes the problem with Nitrous. Whew!

Where do I find this setting?

Is it the same as "Improve Quality Progressivley" under viewport configuration?
            Kind Regards,
            Morne

Looks to be the case. Disabling it in all 4 viewports allows faster response in minimizing and moving the framebuffer and log window. Weird issue, and very annoying.

Yep, we'll be looking into this. We did not notice the issue originally as it did not occur on the machines we tested max 2012 on...

I never have a problem with VFB. But now in max 2012 with large scene, when I stop rendering, VFB cant be selected for a while and when I close it, it reopen by itself and cant be selected for a while again and this is for some 5-10 times, really annoying! When it render till end, its ok.

It's all part of the same issue...
