  • Anisotropic Questions

Hey gang, this may be a simple on but Im missing it if it is. We have a animation with some rotating anisotropic gears. For some of the pieces we are seeing the reflection rotate along with the gear when it should be stationary. Ive played with it for quite awhile but am not finding the underlying issue.

Ive created a small test file with one of the offending pieces in addition to cube that seems to work by default and a cylinder that doesnt work at all outta the can.

Any insight would be most appreciated.

    Thanks

    -Michael

I haven't looked at the scene yet, but it depends on how you are generating the anisotropy u/v vectors. I guess the best way is to use a UV channel rather than relying on the object axes.

Simply invert the gradient texture for the anisotropy rotation (check the "Invert" option in its Output rollout) and it should be fine. Right now the rotation goes in a direction that is not consistent with the UV coordinates.

Thanks! Naturally it works like a charm.
