3 letter forum search

I'm sorry if this isn't the correct place, but would it be possible to enable searches for 3 letter words?

It would be nice to be able to find topics about fur, ice, exr, hdr...etc.

I'm frustrated with the search because if I'm looking for example an old thread of mine entitled "Old Man Head", and I search for "old man head" (no quotes), it comes up with nothing. No idea.

Go to advanced search, type in "old man head" (no quotes) and select titles only. Voila - first on the list. Use quotes around "old man head" and it's the only one it finds.

You think searching for "old man head" (no quotes) would also pull up threads with titles including old man head too. I've since figured out how to find things, but it's very counter intuitive find threads I know exist (usually I search by user because I remember who posts in it).

I shouldn't have to "search titles only" to find a thread which I'm referencing the name of. I also shouldn't have to put it in quotes to find it, seeing as the thread contains all of the words (not putting quotes around it returns zero results). That is silly.

If I search using "old man head" (with quotes) in the search box in the upper right hand corner of the forum I get six results. The last one is your original "old man head" post and then there's 5 above it which are newer in which you reference your "old man head" post. All the words, in order, are in those posts and they're newer so they show up higher on the list. Seems right to me.

^ No no, I don't disagree. Searching WITH quotes produces the correct result. However, people don't usually remember the perfect thread name to put quotes around it.

The problem is that the thread title is "Old Man Head", and without quotes it appears on the 8th page, you would think it might prioritize a bit more if I'm damn close to the thread title . For instance if you search for "old man" (no quotes), zero results are returned....If someone can explain why "old man head" returns 20 pages of results and "old man" returns zero it's because this damn 3 letter forum search limitation. It makes my search effectively "head", which also returns the same 20 pages of results.

The limitation of 3 letters has made some of my old threads practically unsearchable :P. Ie. Never make a thread title with any important words 3 letters long.

I don't disagree with using quotes in the thread, like you point out it produces perfect search results, however, I hardly ever remember the title or a defining few words in a thread to search for with quotes.

You can always use an asterisk to make a 3-letter word into a 4-letter one, e.g. VFB* instead of just VFB
