  • VFB Issue

When I try to position VFB to a different place on my screen and grab it from title bar to position to a new place, if I move the mouse fast, 75% of the time, 3dsmax crashes.
My videocard is NVidia GTX 580.
    Installed driver is 285.62
I am pretty sure that the crashes are triggered by positioning of VFB because it has happened almost 15-20 times since yesterday in the same pattern.

How can this be solved ?

Do you get the 3ds Max CER dialog? If yes, can you get me one of the crash dumps? Also, which 3ds Max version is this? Which 3ds Max viewport driver are you using?

    Best regards,
    Vlado

      It is 3dsMax 2011.
How can I get the crash damp to send you?

I've had the same problems too.
        I'm running Windows 7 64bit, 3dsmax 2012, nvidia 280.19 quadro drivers.

Heres a couple of comments on the VFB.

Is there away to stop the frame buffer from going into a separate window from 3dsmax ? I have to alt tab or go to 3dsmax in the start bar to bring it back up.

Sometimes I loose the curves window and can't bring it back without restarting Max.

Camera safe frame ( aspect ratio ) doesn't always update using Vray Cameras, vray VFB.

Right after you get the 3ds Max CER dialog, go to your temporary folder (type %TEMP% in Windows explorer) and look for a file named 3dsmax_minidump.dmp - this is the file I need (email it to vlado@chaosgroup.com)

Actually it didnt happen again on the last few days.
I disabled the auto-snapping of windows 7 (that it snaps the window to right when you move to the right of the screen and inverse ) probably this solved the problem.

Aero was diabled already but I only had this auto-snapping to screen feature on.Now this is disabled too and problem is not happening again. I don't know how this is related to VFB because the crashes but I must report that I was not about moving VFB to right or left of screen but it was crashing any place on screen if I grab VFB and drag fast.

Anyway if it happens again I will send the report.
              Thank you.
