      Hello Vlado,

I answered your question a few days ago but, here it is again, in case you would'nt have it yet:

"My graphic card is a Gainward GTX 580 "Phantom" (3 Gb RAM).
When I switch to Direct3D 9.0, problems are gone: it takes only a few seconds to load the file instead of 4 minutes.
Hope it helps you in your investigations."

The problem for me now is that I want VRay to work with Nitrous because Direct3D is kind of stuck with big scenes. But this is impossible with the last version of VRay and it is frustrating working with an older version because it lacks some interesting features brought by 2.20.03 version (like the real time zoom in VRay RT).

So, could you please tell me: did you find a way to have VRay 2.20.03 working fine with Nitrous ?

      Best regards,

The problem is in the Nitrous viewport and has little to do with V-Ray as such. If you used "Realistic" materials in the Nitrous viewport, you can try switching to "Shaded" materials instead when saving the scene. 3ds Max 2013 is also expected to improve things in that regard.

        Best regards,
        Vlado

So how does it come that with the exactly same scene everything went fine with older VRay versions ? Maybe VRay has something to do with this problem nevertheless ...
I tried your trick: no viewport in my scene is saved in "Realistic" mode: all viewports have been saved in "Wireframe" mode but the problem remains the same: 4 minutes to load a scene which loads in about 15s with previous VRay ...
Too bad. I am going to wait for 3dsmax 2013 and cross the fingers

Thank you for your help anyway,

          Best regards,

Older versions of V-Ray did not support realistic previews of V-Ray materials in the Nitrous viewports.
