  • VrayLightMtl texture maps not displaying in viewports

Using DirectX or Nitrous viewport drivers I find that VrayLightMtl texture map does not display in the viewport. They only show up white. If I use OpenGL they do display correctly. Is this a Vray thing, a video card driver thing or a Max 2012 thing?... Or user error?

I'm working on a large retail environment that has many illuminated graphic panels. Not being able to see the tex map in the viewport makes it really hard to determine what material is assigned to what object if they all display as white boxes.

    Workstation:
    Intel X5687
    nVidia Quadro 5000
    Vray 2.20.03
    Max 2012 (14.0)

Have same problem here. Have to map texture with standard vray material
and then put this texture to lightmaterial.

My workaround has been to stuff the VrayLightMtl into a VrayOverrideMtl. Then the texture shows up.

This works fine in Nitrous if you set it to "Realistic materials with maps"

try to set the light color to black - seems that the bitmap is multiplied with the light color.

I just drill down to the actual bitmap and then click the show map in viewport button

+1 for setting the light color to black. Works for me.
