  • Point cache problem, urgent!

    Hi all,

I have to render an animation when I used Point Cache, the problem is that some of my computers from renderfarm dosen't seem to 'load' pointcache.

I use DR method for rendering, does the PC file need to be in specific folder?

there are on the network path start on :\\...

is that may be vray issue or rather network problem on few computers?
is even more strange as the computers which dosent 'pick up' PC file render the meshes with all the textures, lighting ect...

    anybody can help?

    thanks,
    peter

Why are you using DR for rendering an animation?
You would be better off using backburner

yes I know, but in this case let just say I'm using DR,
we have software called 'smedge' instead of backburner but the problem is the same..

Have you tried using animated vray proxies rather than point cache?

It is quite easy to convert point cache to an animated proxy.
            Right click on the object.....

I've had this problem once before, I ended up copying & re-directing the cache file to each machine locally. I realise that's not a great solution but if you're up against it it might help!

Relink all point cache on a network patch. Works perfectly here since years
