Vray Lens Effects goes black

I have used Vray Lens Effects in the past successfully.

I am now working on a scene and whenever I activate the render effect and choose From Render Camera, the rendering goes black. It first draws the scene normally when I render, and then when the render dialog says it's applying Vray Lens Effect it just goes solid black.

I have no idea why this would be happening. (I'm using Image only mode, btw).

Any suggestions?

Yes it still works on my older scenes where I used it before, and a totally fresh one.

I tried merging my objects from the 'black out' scene into a new file and it was still happening.

Can I send you the file? I've stripped out practically everything and it keeps on blacking out. It's really messing with my head.

I just discovered something. If I turn off Maps in the Vray Global Switches, it will work.... what's that about????

Okay, I started investigating maps and materials. I found the problem traced to a VrayCarPaint material which had a 0 flake scale. If I made it .01 it would render fine. Also if I left the 0 scale, but lowered the AA settings (like -1, 1 on adaptive subD) it would render fine

I tried to create a new carpaint material with exactly the same settings and I couldn't reproduce it. I guess it's just a freaky error. I can send you the wacky file if you want, but since I can't reproduce it, there's probably no point.
