  • Irradiance map causing weird spots

    Hi guys,

got an issue with IM map creating really unpleasantly looking spots.
Tried BF/LC, th eproblem is gone so it has to be IM.
Tried turnign off caustics completely, raising subdivs..nothing helps
    for 1500px i got IM setup at -3/-1 + 120/20 + 0.3/0.1/0.1
    no DE

    any clues to fixing this?

    Thanks a bunch!

Have you checked for double faces?

        UVW issues texture bugs?

        Try 120/60

nope its just simple material with no texture :-/
will try 120/60 but i am afraid that is not the solution...besides, i need to keep my IM nice and crisp

Import scene to brand new 3ds max scene see if that fix it. If no then export just the geometry to different scene try then, if no then export to OBJ and import back in try then....

We recently had a similar issue with CAD imported geometry where the geometric surface normals were inverted compared to the smooth surface normals and this caused the same kind of issue - not sure if this is the case here as well, but it might be worth checking.

i ve modelled everything from scratch.
i ve checked for inverted normals just in case...all is fine.
this issue started to happen all of the sudden after i merged a few objects of older date (1-2 years) into the scene. i rebuild its materials though, so this shoudl not be the cause either
i will yet do the new scene merge but i doubt this will fix it....
if i fail to make it work, can i send you guys the scene for inspection Vlado?
                Thank you!
