Hi,
in my scene, there is a water surface, created using Thinkbox Frost. I have applied a VRay material with settings for water and with Frost it renders about 15mins per frame.
As we have this mesh in several scenes and passes, I wanted to cache this mesh as Vray Proxy, so Frost won't calculate a new mesh for every frame in each pass over and over again. So I created a vray mesh from the animation, which takes ages but works.
I loaded this vray mesh as Vray Proxy back into my scene and everything is working fine as long as I don't use any refraction with my material. If I do so, the rendering times per frame (from 15mins with Frost object) go up to 2 hours.
So I am wondering what's going on there. If anyone could point me into the right direction, this was great!
