  • Crashing with Embree Helper and lights

I have a scene that is crashing consistently using the Embree helper. I've narrowed it down to the lights. If I disable lights in the Vray General Settings the scene renders okay. When I enable lights it will crash.

I created a new test scene with teapots and it will render just fine with the Embree Helper enabled. When I merge the lights from my problem scene it will crash.

Here is the problem teapot test scene: https://www.box.com/s/2001d8a6ae9a2ee348c3

    Max 2012 SP2 PU6
    Vray 2.30.01

      Hello PixelJockey

We've tried to reproduce this crash but we couldn't.
Could you give us step by step instructions how to reproduce the issue?
      Which version of vray-embree are you using - x64 or x64_avx ?

Okay. I'm not sure how much help I can be but here goes:
        1- Open Max 2012.
        2- Open scene file.
        3- Press render button.
4- Scene begins to render, Vray starts processing light cache.
        5- Crash.

        Using x64 Embree plugin.

I also took the test scene without any of the problem lights and got intermittent crashing.
        - Added a standard light - Renders fine.
        - Added a vray plane light - Crash
        - Opened file again. Added vray plane light again - Renders fine.

We have three identical spec workstations here. Every one crashes rendering various production files (arch viz types) using the Embree x64 plugin. Are Xeon 5687 compatible with Embree?

Works fine for me as well, but there are a couple of missing plugins - multitexture and railclone lite; is it possible that one of them is causing a problem (in particular, railclone lite)?

          Best regards,
          Vlado
