  • Matte reflective object is matting out but still rendering

Hey guys i have a simple scene with a pl-yer over a pin, i am matting out the pl-yer but for some reason the pl-yer is rendering but its not in the alpha causing my render time to increase, The pl-yer has a glossy reflection on it. It seems as only the reflective stuff in rendering. Any ideas?

Just realized its only happening on that tool... weird

Could you please clarify the issue a bit more?
Also, which V-Ray version are you using? Can you attach an example scene?

Don't know if this could help you, but try to put the Reflection, Refraction and GI Amount in the Vray Properties of the tool to 0. Then it will not be visible in the render, but still in the reflections and shadow and stuff.

sure no prob, i cleaned it up a bit since is was a bit big but whats left is nessesary to check out. I left to tools in the so you could see one is fine but the other doesn't matte on beauty. It could be one of these errors that appear for no reason. But anyways let me know if it helps. it seems as if i cant upload .rar? the rar is 28 mb.

The slight appearance of the tool in the alpha channel is actually a shadow from one of the bones, captured by the matte surface.
If you want a clear alpha just disable Affect Alpha or Shadow option in the Object properties settings.

i don't mean the appearance in the alpha i know its the shadow, am talking about the render. its actually rendering it as you could see in the image, its actually spending some time rendering it even though its not appearing in the alpha.

I am pretty sure that this can be solved by setting the reflection amount to 0 in the vray properties of the plyer, as I said before. Judging by the pics you posted it could be worth a try.

                      Regards

In the scene that you sent us the tool didn't have any matte property to it and it is seen in the beauty and in the alpha (as in the screenshot that you attached). If I enable Matte object option of the tool geometry, it appears invisible in the beauty pass. Could you please clarify the issue?

oh well then it must be a corrupt scene for me because when i turn on matte option it shows up in the beauty pass. Its never happen to me before so it must be something in the scene but yea if it works fine for you then all good. Thanks for the help!

can you reproduce this in a simple sphere over plane scene?
