  • low Rendertimes when light shine through glas

    Hi
we have a little Rendertime Problem here.
We have to render a combine cabine from inside. The light is a domelight outside.
Because the light have to shine through the glas the rendertimes seem to explode.
Under normal circumstances we would render it without the glas. But for some reason
    this is no option.
Is there any trick to speed up this.

    Regards H.Kroeber

stick plane lights in front of the windows instead of the dome light

Make sure the glass objects don't cast shadows. That SHOULD do all the difference, but if it doesn't you can also try making them invisible to GI.

        What are the render times?
Would it be possible to attach a screenshot with your GI settings and output image? Are you using glossies on the glass material?
It would be best if you could attach a simple example scene or send it to : support@chaosgroup.com

I also think it's the domelight. it will render quicker with a classical vraysun/sky setup. you can keep the domelight for the reflections only if you deselect the "affect diffuse" option in the domelight.
