  • Multicatter VS backburner VS vray 2.30.01 - problem

    Hi guys,
    i know this is not vray oriented but i decidet to give it a shot I cant really wait for the MS support to wake up....

    i ve recently installed the newest vray 2.30.01
    because of that i also had to install the new Multiscatter

    however, what i get now when trying to render over BB is this:



    i have MAX 2012 with SP2 and PU 8
    vray 2.30.01
    Multiscatter 1.1.09c

    I have no clue what do ...tried everything already :-/-// u
    under deadline and now this

    Can you please help?

    btw i dont use any mental ray ...so no clue why its there whatsoever

      and it render fine if you do just a normal render not via backburner?

        Yup, single machine render works and so does DR, but once on BB i get these messages.

          in material browser set it to display all and especially incompatable. See any autodesk materials?
          also, in asset tracking, see any mental ray proxies?

            Ill have a look at this... Ive Rendered this scene many times before though with the older vray and MS (which isnt even included in the scene btw) and it rendered fine..gave up trying today , be back on it tomorrow morning. Thanks for the tips so far morne!!!

              if I remember correctly, multiscatter needs a batch version of the plugin installed on the render nodes to work in batch (network rendering mode)

                I haven't seen this issue except when MS is using a different version of the plugin than it's compiled for. You sure on the slaves you have the correct MS version for your max version? Stupid question I know, but worth asking?

                  You probably installed Multiscatter while vrayspawner / mentalray network node /backburner is running as standalone/service.
                  Those mentalray dll's don't install properly when the application is running.

                  And given how poorly backburner is "supported" and archaic, it still requires plugins to be loaded when launched on a job.

                  Just copy those dlls into the mentralray shaders folder when those slaves are not in use, and it'll be fine.

                      hi guys,
                      here is the RESULT which is NO LUCK!!!!

                      *checked for all the possible version problems - found nothing wrong
                      *manually deleted all the MS entries in AD folders
                      *reinstalled the damn thing with all the programs like BB and spawner off
                      *checked for the presence of all the files in the dedicated folders
                      *started up BB and hit render
                      NO JOY, the problem persists and i still get no support from MS guys.....

                      this is doing with all the files i send to BB, nomatter if they r just a simple cube with vray being primary render engine or complex scene

                      i am really frustrated now :-/

                          we also have the Problem with the MultiScatter failed to initialize, if there are custom Startup Scripts in the C:\programm\Autodesk\3dsmaxxxx\scripts\Startup folder.

                            hmm...got quite a few of them in the folder...

                            vrayutils
                            vrayrtutils
                            railclone etc etc....

                            have you found any workaround? something tells me i might need railclone in my scene )))

                              sorry, "custom" i mean your own scripts, not the vray and railclone etc.
                              Our Workaround is that only the workstations have all scripts (including scripts we created) and the renderslave not.

                              Have you switched the Custom UI to VRay (in 3dsmax under "Custom / Custom UI and Default Switcher.../MAX.vray".
                              maybe it helps...
