Hi,
I am rendering a series of exterior pics. Now suddenly I got a problem scene where irr cache renders really slowly. I have nailed down the problem and it's multiscattered grass. I have rendered previously lots of same kind of grass with no problem. My render time with really fast preview is 10 mins and irr cache takes 8 mins of the total time. Without the grass the scene renders in 4 mins. I canceled my over night final render cause it was still in irr phase after 7 hours. The scene was prepped with lights and cameras in vray 2 demo. Can that somehow affect the render time? It's funny how even very complex foliage renders the irr phase a lot faster than the grass.
I just realized I didn't have multipass checked in irr dialog. Now let's see if it renders faster. I have rendered a whole bunch of pics without multipass just fine. What kind of elements benefit from using multipass? It seems that this scene is just unrenderable without multipass.
