  • hdri domelight - strange reflection

I have noticed a strange behavior when you use a domelight with a hdri map and you have objects with glossy reflection...
there are strange spots if you have enabled glossy reflection eveb if you use slight values like 0.99 the spots gets visible. if the reflection is sharp 1.0 the reflection of the hdri is correct. I use a hdri from hdri-location.com, so I think it's a professional hdri.

does anybody have noticed something similar? I now there was a similar post in the past, but I don't find it...

    best regards

I think vray does an internal optimization of the hdr once the reflection is glossy in the shader, it resizes the hdr for that shader for speed purposes, but there is a way to make vray use real size. I believe vlado posted a script command to enable that somewhere...

I seem to be having a similar problems with a hdri mapped on to a vray plane light (used to create hdr reflections across a building facade) What would be the maxscript to fix that particular light? Tried $.plane_visibleOriginal=2 but no joy.

          Hi,
This script works only for V-Ray Dome light.
Can you post any examples of your issue?
