  • Vray Distributed rendering - Irradiance map failed to send

    Hello,

I've been having a few problems with our Vray DR setup over our network. In most cases it works very well but recently we have had some issues where when going through the pre calc phase of irradiance map we have some buckets that are not producing the same results. In the render window it looks as though individual buckets are not set to the same gamma but i have double checked all of the nodes that are being used and are all correct.

In the Vray messages window it says failed to send irradiance map to the nodes. Unfortunately the vray log wasn't written to a file so i can't dig out the error code.

If anyone has had similar problems then i'd be very interested to hear of any fixes.

    Using 3Ds max 2012, Vray 2.30.1

    Many Thanks
    Chris

    Hello cklaassen,

Have you made any changes on your machine recently? Changing hardware or software - updates , firewalls , antivirus a etc ?
Does this error appear on every scene you try to render - or just on particular ones ?
Do all render nodes give the same error ?
Have you got the same Vray versions installed between machines ?
Have you tried with different Vray version , perhaps Nightly Build Version?

Hello, Thank you for your response.

I will try and answer your questions as best I can.
Have you made any changes on your machine recently? Changing hardware or software - updates , firewalls , antivirus a etc ?
Windows updates are the only thing that is being updated every so often, other than that there is no change to hardware, software or antivirus. We try and do the Windows update to the whole set of workstations and render nodes so that everything runs the same version.
Do all render nodes give the same error ?
With the scene in question it was the same error that was being sent to our 4 render nodes and 2 workstations.
Have you got the same Vray versions installed between machines ?
Yes, all running the same version. 2.30.1 Floating network license

What is Nightly build version of vray?

      Many Thanks
      Chris

        Hello again,

Could you please try to render another scene with similar setup - just to find out if there is something in the scene.
Is the issue is related only to Irradiance Map or there are other missing assets like textures , proxies etc ? Is everything works fine with Brute Force and Light Cache for example ?
Could you please try to render with just one slave - not all available machines but just a server and a single node.
A few images from the rendering and a screen-shots with any errors would be very helpful.

Vray nightly builds are not official Vray versions - for access to this versions please write to sales.software@chaosgroup.com
You can download the last "stable" version from the Nightly Builds - and install it on the server machine and one of your slaves and do the test again.

If you still have a problem - please write to vray@chaosgroup.com and don't forget to send a link to this post.
