  • Crash to desktop during lightcache

    Hi,

I was rendering one scene yesterday just fine and when I opened the scene this morning it wont' render. It always crashes to desktop during lightcache rendering. Lightcache goes about 8-12 seconds and the max crashes. I have plenty of ram so it can't be that. I have to get it working today. Any ideas? I tried to delete all the foliage but it didn't help. I have noticed that instances sometimes crash vray. I don't know why but it happens.

Edit: I replaced all the materials with standard white and it worked just fine. So it must be some materials causing this, maybe displacement.

Edit: After adding a few lamps to the scene the crashing started again. Is there any way to know what's causing this?

Materials are definately the source of the crash. Again putting default vray material all over the scene resulted in fine render, no crashes.

If you still have issues, can you get us a scene to vray@chaosgroup.com ? Do you maybe have proxies with a Normal map texture on them?

      Best regards,

It took some time but I got the problem fixed. I had merged two deck chairs that had hinges with standard raytrace materials. Scene worked ok first but when I changed the sun direction vray didn't like the raytrace materials anymore. Hinges were so small I had to examine the deck chairs closely. After changing them to vray material scene started to work ok agian.
