You get this with a lot of things - they're working on a background fix to solve this problem but in the mean time you might have to use a second multiscatter that's hidden and use that as your reference. Or use vray dirt instead.
Just to clarify, I am not trying to have the same material on the "reciever" and the "target". Seperate materials.
It does not work by selecting the target object that gets distributed. Its when I try to use the Multiscatter object as a "object" inside the material I get the "circular reference" error.
Unfortunately V-Ray Distance texture doesn't work with Multiscatter for now.
That is, it won't work if you attempt to pick MultiScatter as an object inside the list of the VRayDistanceTex. However, it should work if you want to use the VRayDistanceTex texture to drive the distribution of MultiScatter objects.
Thanks Vlado - Good to know.
What i was trying to do, was to make a nice little displaced indent around the objects scattered on an surface. (Thrown inside an output map, you can really have fun with distancetex)
Now I have to "mesh" the objects, it works, but makes things a little bit less flexible.
Would this be anything fixable in the "near" future?
