  • Max keeps forgetting the correct PTEX coordinates

    Hi there

I have this scenario: Created a model in Max, sent it to Mudbox for PTEX texture painting and updated the model in Max again. Works fine in general, renders as it should be. Yet when I close Max and reopen the file later, the complete PTEX setup is messed up and I have to go to Mudbox again and resent the base mesh to Max every time.

On top of the model (low poly) I am using the VRDisplacementMod

Any ideas what could be wrong?

    thanks and regards
    Chris

Is there a chance that some of the programs reorders the model vertices/faces? Is the problem still there if you export an .obj file from Mudbox and import it into 3ds Max?

    Best regards,
    Vlado

Oh the irony. I had this problem for around 3+ months now and the day I finally make a thread it magically disappears.

However, thanks vlado. To clarify your questions:

The problem wasn't that it didn't work, it just didn't work initially when opening max (with the correct working mesh+texture) after rebooting the PC or just closing and reopening max. If I left max on however and just closing and reopening the file itself, it always worked via the connect/FBX way. As if max forgot that there was actually a PTEX file present...
