  • Taking forever "transforming verts"

We have a scene with quite a few point cached objects 50-90 and vray seems to take forever "transforming verts" before it even starts to render. Is there any way to speed up this process (without using vray proxies)?

    thanks,

I'm beginning to think it has something to do with the multiple point cached objects in the scene.

It seems that when you have many copies of an object with a point cache modifier on them, even though they may all read the same point cache file, max still blips on every single one of them during the pre-render stage. Insanely long "transforming vertex" times. This happens with both vray and scanline. btw, 3ds max 2013 sp5

It could be something totally different, but I found using the XML file format for point cache was ridiculously slow to render with, if you change to pc2 instead it's far better. Might be an ascii / binary thing but it's worth a look!

            Are you using distributed rendering?
