  • vrlservice.exe Win8: runtime system is not installed

Hello, I tried to setup the license IP on a new Win8 machine but the vrlservice.exe can't be open due to this message:
    "runtime system is no installed".

I also tried to set up the license IP within max but I got a message "the file can't be change".

How can we setup the license server properly in Win8 when the dongle is on a Win7 machine?

The machine can see each other inside a residential group and are on the same workgroup session. The printer file sharing is activated. The network is on.
But the license is no visible from Win8!

    Thanks

On Windows 8, did you install the dongle drivers?

On the Windows 7 machine, when changing the client license settings, you can try right-clicking on the start menu shortcut for the "change client license settings" and selecting "Run as Administrator..."

    Best regards,
    Vlado

Dongle drive = Wibukey I guess?
There is no choice when installing vray on win8 about what to installed when remote license server is the installation option choice. Shuld I choose local instead of remote?
Wibukey is not installed and I don't know how to installed it as it did no installed during vray installation.

        Hi,

You have 2 workstations, one Win7 and one Win8, is that correct?
In this case you don't need to start V-Ray license server on your Win8 machine, only to set "V-Ray client license settings" to get the license from the machine (set Win7 machine IP address).
You can find it in "Program Files\Chaos group\V-Ray for 3DS Max..\Licensing\Administration\
right-clicking on the start menu shortcut for the "change client license settings" and selecting "Run as Administrator..."
        as Vlado mentioned below.

Yes, one win7 (with dongle), one with win8, both 64 bit.
Ip adress of win7 have been enable (hard IP) and the license on win8 have been fill up with such IP.
The license is now visible but as soon as I click render vray freeze!
Next time I restart max, vray look for a very long time (like it freeze), and then can't find the license again "could not optain a license (-200)".
After this, max become unusable, no way to get back to another render engine, without restarting max. This is max 2013.

Both computer have Hard IP and no DHCP. Both are on the same submask and same gateway.
Share folder exist and work beetween the two computers, so I guess the problem is not the network. (at least I don't face any problem on the share folder)

I notice that the GC on the other computer is not visible from the second one, neither from the win7 or win8.

            Hi,

The error (200) could be due to older version of the license server.
Can you get the License server status on Win8 machine when you type: http://server:30304/getstatus , in internet explorer?
(server - the IP address of the machine where License server is running and holds the dongle)

Make sure that you have no firewall, which can block the access.
If you cant get the license working, please write to: support@chaosgroup.com and include this thread in the email, so we can try to help you further.

I sent an email to the support.
http://server:30304/getstatus is not giving any result (error page) on both win7 and win8!
The win8 firewall have been disable, same result.

After all it was a firewall issue.
                Thank you for your e-mail.
